Trust yourself

I live with an innate quality that is both a blessing and a curse: I want a lot out of life.

Not more; I don’t need a bigger apartment, fancier car or a wider variety of summer dresses in my closet (although what girl would say no to that?). What I do want is fulfillment. People who captivate me, a job that pushes me and friends who show me how to be a better person through their own aspirations.

I have been on a journey to find a path that is fulfilling enough for my (high) standards for quite some time now. And then it hit me like a foul ball off of a broken bat; you don’t have to find the path, you just have to trust it.

My mom (mama saint) always told me, “the next five minutes are a secret.” She’s right. We can’t possibly predict what will happen next. So how do you know if you’re headed in the right direction? The answer is so simple.

You stay true to yourself.

What you are in love with, what seizes your imagination, will affect everything. It will decide what will get you out of bed in the morning, what you do with your evenings, how you spend your weekends, what you read, whom you know, what breaks your heart and what amazes you with joy and gratitude. Fall in love, stay in love, and it will decide everything.
